My "How we got here" thread
October 2017
Twitter threads have always been terrible. I’ve tried over the years to connect related posts, but periodically Twitter makes stupid changes that make threads unreadable. You get hopelessly lost, and some tweets aren’t even visible unless you know how to search for them.
This is a rant I did in October 2017, that is sort of a touchstone for me of “how we got here.” After seeing Al Qaeda in the White House on Veteran’s Day yesterday, I’ve decided to post this for posterity.
Clearly a lot has happened since, most of it not good for most Americans, but since I often refer to this thread I might as well make it readable.

America's been stuck in corporatism for decades, which is why socialism is catching on. The choice is between it and corporatism, and it's clear to almost everyone that corporatism sucks. Capitalism - legalized voluntary cooperation among honest, peaceful citizens - isn’t even on the ballot.
Rudy, did you actually vote for Obama or did you vote against McCain? What do you think of George Carlin's position - don't vote, it only encourages them?
Finally I happened to see a clip of Donnie's interview on Fox - this was his response to a question about his 50 year mortgage scheme - It’s not even a big deal,” Trump insisted. “I mean, you know, you go from 40 to 50 years.” Out of touch with reality or another sign of the onset of dementia?
