‘The risk-free (to me & my guido pals) rate of return & the cost-free (because cost-shifted to not me & my guido pals) solution’ … no, not a new phenomenon.
Perpetual motion, Tesla energy, cold fusion being kept under lock & key so that artificial scarcity, metered, & sold at premium prices, can keep guidos’ “customers” under lock & key isn’t new, either.
Book-cooking embezzlement, including all the high barrier to entry loopholes & extraordinary renditions of cash to offshore black site-havens, is the norm, & Norm’s fat arse is a fixture at Cheers Bar, where everybody knows your same -sucker- & is always glad you came.
Reconciling even just the checkbooks that nobody uses anymore, let alone the books of big business & its government machine-tool, was ever-always much less of a conscientiously practiced & adhered to effort.
TNSTAAFL BUT THE COMPULSIVE PURSUIT OF FREE LUNCH IS REAL. (Compulsion is always an all-caps felt sense.)
“Privatize profit” & “socialize costs” says it another way.
Eat the one marshmallow now — or the seed corn — right away, rather than wait a few minutes & have two marshmallows says it another way.
Life is short eat dessert first & how can you have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat! says it another way.
‘Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun’ & wisdom grows out of the barrel of reality. Subsidy & bribery & color of law, which is legality, rules, not law, does this to reality, to price & progress discovery:
The bubble is made of bulletproof perpetual Ponzi comPLEXIty & the division is inherent, a species feature, not a bug, which makes pander-buying ever more of it, division —of those spoils — easy.
Left hemisphere, right hemisphere, Emissary & Master it should be McGilchrist writes, but instead it’s cross-hot-wired the opposite way & direction, the jalopy runs in reverse, same as so many demolition derby drivers do.
Hamilton’s Curse, Dilorenzo’s book, is probably where I read about crony founding fodders pointing the cannons at veterans & ordinaries who had bought war bonds, only to watch prices of that patriotism bond/age crater before selling them to insider “speculators” — at discounts as deep as 98% — who could not fail because they & theirs’ knew the central government was going to be used to auto-pen “legislation” such that centgov would backstop-redeem the whole issuance at full price.
Remember The Magnificent Seven? 1960 remake, through a western glass darkly, of Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai … because as everybody knows part of what makes the good old western days so good was all that free-floating altruism & willingness to put it all on the line for underdog peasants & sodbusters … & never mind about the reality & true nature of the Samurai caste system, too, while you’re at it.
Pirates, reivers, marauders got tired of life on the road (cue Bob Segar’s Turn The Page) & wondered if they could settle in among the prey & just husbandry-mulct them continuously from the comfort of thrones instead of serial one-offs of sweeping down to rape, pillage-plunder, murder … & thus did criminality mature into governmentality.
When Chris & the six show up to displace Cross & the 6,000 (morality fairy tales like to go heavy on the contrast) its always for the sake of Chris supplanting Cross & it’s never for the sake of the peasant sodbusters.
Central banks? I heard via Whitney Webb podcast that the crook who started the (mounte)bank of England’s previous gig was pirate.
Well, “previous” because what changed, career-wise, except the scale of the criminality?
Yeah. It is dumb.
Appetite-disorder compulsion is dumb.
Perpetual patenting of scarcity to keep zero sum at the summit is dumb.
Injecting all the analogrolling with digital steroids is dumb.
Hero-hope worshiping is dumb.
Telegraphing compensating bluff — nothing in your hand — by Chris(Cross)tening yourself “sapiens” is dumb.
Karen Carpenter sang in a voice, her voice, that could make you cry. When she looked in mirrors she couldn’t see beauty, truth, value. She couldn’t see abundance. So she appetite disordered herself to death. Terrible.
Karen Carpenter is not a metaphor. She is representative.
Catch-22 double binds damn both ways.
Dumb.

what i would like to understand is if there is a negative hedonics algo: my new Microsoft OS cost more but, as usual, charges me extra for apps that were included in previous versions (Outlook, Office, etc), . my washing machine has multiple chips, lots of lights, but does not get clothes clean, and lasts far less long than my old 20 year old model. my new mower doesn't cut grass properly, my new hairbrush (identical to one I bought three years ago) cost more but has cheap soft bristles. ad nauseum.
