I’ll lead off with the obligatory “I loathe both parties” part, because I truly do. I just have more personal experience with one particular politician than others. What prompted this piece was nothing more than a memory, and the deficit article below.
I’m of the persuasion that thinks if Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich agree on something, it’s probably a very good thing, and if Joe Biden and Mitch McConnell agree on something, it’s likely to be a very bad thing (i.e., no one I vote for ever wins.)
I guess if anyone is hardcore partisan for Team Blue or Team Red, they’re probably not following me anyway.
California’s Newsom Sees Budget Deficit Deepening to $32 Billion Roughly half of the state’s personal income taxes come from the top 1% of earners
California is a one-party dictatorship. There are no brakes on the legislature.
“The governor and legislative leaders, all Democrats, face tough negotiations over potential cuts to many popular programs….Newsom says he doesn’t want to take any actions that would make California less competitive with other states trying to attract employers.”
Sorry Gavin, I think that ship has sailed:
As I’ve said, I loathe both parties, but I’d much rather live where there’s at least some decent opposition.
California now is basically Elysium (but the weather’s nice).
It’s almost seems as if California is an oligarchy run by a few very wealthy families.
All in the (extended) family: the Gov. Newsom story
It was the divorce of Gavin’s parents when he was only 2 years old that left him largely under the wing of another illustrious California family: The oil-rich Gettys. Gordon and Ann Getty “informally adopted” Gavin, gave him a room in their Marina District home, took him on safari to Africa as a teen and generally treated him as a son.
Gavin Newsom, man of the people. Discuss.
"The evil of aristocracy is not that it necessarily leads to the infliction of bad things or the suffering of sad ones; the evil of aristocracy is that it places everything in the hands of a class of people who can always inflict what they can never suffer."
G.K. Chesterton
If you remember, California had some of the most oppressively stupid and cruel Covid policies on Earth.
Public-health officials ruined many lives by insisting that workers with natural immunity to Covid-19 be fired if they weren’t fully vaccinated. But after two years of accruing data, the superiority of natural immunity over vaccinated immunity is clear. By firing staff with natural immunity, employers got rid of those least likely to infect others. It’s time to reinstate those employees with an apology.
Many times during Gavin Newsom’s statewide mandatory mask-mandates, he was caught not wearing one. Total hypocrite, like so many of our politicians of both parties.
And when he did wear a mask?
Remember this absurdity?
They tried to follow Covid with Monkeypox, but it didn’t stick the second time. People wised up.
Goofy signs like this one in San Diego are still up in California:
It wasn’t just Newsom. Remember these?
Lastly, if you were wondering if Gavin Newsom is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, he is:
The problem with Newsom is the problem I see nearly everywhere. Psychopaths are a magnet for public office. It’s our own fault though. What does it take to have those with a moral compass, who can’t be bought, to serve? And that said, who would want to be captain on a sinking ship (besides more psychopaths)?
When Newsom whines about oil, here’s a good rebuttal
