Author and host of Pivot to AI David Gerard joins The Tech Report’s Will Guyatt to talk about suggestions that AI businesses are buying thousands of old books and then destroying them. We discuss what happens now that frontier AI businesses have run out of internet to copy.

When I saw the photo of the three stooges, I thought it was Lenin in the middle. Same barber ?

Rudy, I don’t understand the problem. The system clearly works for the people that run it.

But, even I have enough money to pay Country Joe and the fish. “Give me an F!”

At one point people who are not in the work force stopped being counted as unemployed. So, "unemployment is at record lows" is a lie and has been for almost fifty years. I get tired of the games the bureau of lying with statistics plays.

I didn't think it was possible to hate the family, friends and associates of an admin more than Biden. Trump proved me so very wrong. Their collective grift and murder is breathtaking.

Social Security is not a ponzi scheme.

BTW No one seems to be talking about this and it's coming in 3 weeks. https://www.treasurydirect.gov/savings-bonds/help-center/faqs/idme-faq/

Glad I've already closed out my Treasury Direct account.

It’s a private company and I just got an email yesterday about it from Treasury Direct. Ridiculous, after I already went through the whole http://Login.gov process. I think this is going to be problem but nobody cares what I think.

This is so amusing to me. Because we have lived on our boat for most of the past 15 years, we do not have a permanent residential address. Due to the KYC rules we have been unable to open a new brokerage account. And Treasury Direct said we couldn’t ’prove your identity’.

It’s amusing because the IRS has no problem with us using a commercial mailing service as our legal address.

So while the Treasury won’t let me buy T bills because I can’t prove my identity, the same Treasury will happily accept my identity to steal their pound of flesh.

It’s ok. The secondary market works better anyway.

same, (I got the same email). in 45 days total............I bet lots of old people don't even check every 45 days. They are going ot try to log in in January to get their tax docs and it's not going to work.

The same government that couldn't build a website in 3 years is gonna switch over to a "private" (read CIA/Mossad controlled) company which will now have your DL and picture and SS# (which you know, my card is old enough it says "not to be used for identification" on it) and i'm SUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRE it won't be stolen.

And you can't opt out, even if you sold everything today you still need your tax docs for 2026 which won't be ready until January '27. (which they don't send you and you have to print out).

If you need me I"ll be out in the garage working on my welding.

If the job/task can be done by AI to be "more productive" it's most likely that the job/task doesn't need to be done at all. All these reports and such that no one ever reads except for the AI bot on the other side that is reading the report because no one has time to read it? How about we just not do them? All those people (esp in government) who move paper from one side to the other? who about we just not do that?

We used to be able to just do things.

Each day I'm watching someone else I used to admire/respect turn into a looter of the current system. It's exhausting. Thank you for the mention.
