"So by nuking my twitter account, we lost nine years of dumb jokes, but also a lot of actual investigative reporting, with links, and threads tying things all together"
It's goddamn criminal what they did to you, and us.
Isn’t ‘positive inflation’ an oxymoron? I’ve often said no POTUS should be allowed who hasn’t served in the military - far too easy to send other people’s children to war (says mother of 4 boys ;-) ). Particularly good one today Rudy.
Fantastic Hemingway quotes. On a much lower intellectual level, The Terminal List illustrates his points. It sometimes requires a fast-forward, but it’s better than the critics paint. (Sadly, the War Pigs in our realm never pay for their murder.)
Regarding inflation, I have noticed that some articles in the WSJ have recently cited the PCE rather than the CPI. The PCE is running about two percentage points lower and is the Fed’s “preferred” measure of inflation. Also, there is an article preparing us for a horrid CPI number tomorrow blaming the situation on housing costs finally impacting the number, even though it has been exploding for well over a year.
Of course. It's all propaganda at this point. PCE using "chained" methodology. Hedonics and substitution and goofy weightings aren't enough now. They just lie - heck, 1/3 of CPI is housing and their OER has been running at 1/4 of the real world rate.
"Every single adjustment to CPI calculation has ended up with a lower CPI. No one has ever adjusted it and come up with a higher number. So, we, we know what the adjustments are there for." - Grant Williams
Unless they change the methodology, the inflation that's baked in from housing finally filtering into OER is going to keep the CPI print high for a long time to come. Maybe they will find a way to "adjust" for this.
I do miss random movie suggestions.
Regarding Mr. Hemingway's quote: General Butler's plan of allowing only those of fighting age to vote on war still sounds like a winner.

They nuked you but attack dog nutjobs like "Mueller She Wrote" are still tweeting. Unbelievable.
I'm sure you're familiar with this fellow's work, Rudy. He puts inflation above 15% based on 80s/90s metrics.

I'm sad your Twitter is gone too, but I could never follow as I would never keep up with my timeline. Your substack is a great substitute for me!
I'm just going long on Monkeypox with a side bet on Marburg for now.

In before market rally on "only" 8.6% CPI
I want 4 decimal places!
