The mind boggles that so many people still trust, at least to some extent, what they read in legacy corporate media. I have relatives in the US who are well-educated, not stupid, yet they just completely swallow every tidbit of propaganda, as long as it fits into their world view. No critical thinking whatsoever; and no amount of contrary evidence will convince them otherwise.

I was cured of this sort of delusion during the first Gulf War, so, I guess I'm 'lucky' - nonetheless, it is amazing they continue to believe utter horseshit that is obviously nonsense - and for decades now.

A quote I saw a while back about the automatic dismissal of UFO reports said something to the effect, "People are not looking for evidence, they are looking for permission." Sadly, this applies to everything now for a lot of people. Critical thought is absent from most popular public discourse, especially on social media. Hopefully enough of these people will have their illusions shattered so we can start behaving like adults and deal with the reality that exists, not a manufactured narrative. We have real serious problems and predicaments that will require a great deal of collaborative effort to overcome if we are to avoid catastrophic systems failure at all levels of society. There is no magical solution and no savior coming to our rescue. People really need to grow up, understand this and stop looking for leadership from the political class that created almost all of these problems.

Attempted suppression of speech used to come from the authoritarian right but was resisted by the left and the entire mainstream media. Now, the authoritarian right has been joined by the authoritarian left and the MSM has zero desire to protest. I increasingly feel like Mike Duncan’s book, “The Storm Before the Storm” is as much a description of our current situation as it is a description of the 80 years leading to the end of the Roman Republic. I suspect we are closer to the end than the beginning of that period. Apologies for the gloom.

I love your writing on freedom of speech. As a fan of Orwell and Kafka, it infuriates me when I hear MSM and academia double speak. Did you know men can now be women? The person who points out this obvious lie is the danger!

Don't worry about commercial real estate. The IMF today said rates at headed back to 1%. Everything is fine.

Remember back in the 80s, when everyone lost it over "800.00 dollar hammers as proof the Pentagon was foolish with money", and everyone just sucked it up as if it wasn't actually the exposure of the B Team's poor attempt at money laundering to hide the covert ops budget? Now we just bill it to Blackwater and Triple Canopy, et al, and noone cares.
