Capitalism only works if the government plays it's role of referee which we haven't seen since the 80's, everything since is crony-theater and directly correlated to the expansion of the great divide in this country. Criminals will always be criminals but the system works a lot better (for both sides) if some of them see justice.
Thank you and thank you for the reading list. So much to read! And, Just wow - this quote you reference: Dead subdivisions line the highway, their pompous names half-obliterated on crumbling stucco gates. Lonely white-way lights stand guard over miles of cement sidewalks, where grass and palmetto take the place of homes that were to be...Whole sections of outlying subdivisions are composed of unoccupied houses, past which one speeds on broad thoroughfares as if traversing a city in the grip of death."
You will be posting again after a week I hope. I really enjoy reading your stuff, one of my favorite blogs which is why I paid for a year. Don't leave me hanging!
At the beginning of the last PE deal I helped manage, we had a meet-n-greet with one of the PE partners. Never, in my life, have I heard more “me,” “my,” and “I’s” uttered by someone. Easily the worst dining experience in the last 10-years.
You’ve got to wonder what kind of people would asset strip a nursing home company of all things. Even if you’re unethical there have got to be less odious ways to make a buck.
They're completely amoral. That's why - even if they personally didn't do anything illegal - so many people had no problem hanging around Jeff Epstein for years.
I enjoy it very much, but it is a bit nerve wrecking. It is hard to read stuff like that every week, the cynism our financial system has to offer gets back at you.
Thanks again Rudy. When I see one of your posts, it’s the first thing I open. Brilliant combination of timely information and humorous sarcasm.
81 million subscribers, you're worth twice that!

Yeah just going on a vacation
I find myself opening my email everyday, looking for your post. Enjoy your vacation!
Also, you should offer to sell headlamps alongside any Webb postings, because when you open them, you know you’re going down deep in the hole.
This comment on your CRE thread might be a good representation of the moment...gradually, then suddenly anyone?
"Or is everyone so fat from the runup that they can just sit and hold and wait out Powell?"

The Epstein association is a good litmus test. As you’ve documented, the people who interacted with him knew what he was doing.

I'll.try to throw in more humor
It's your last one that really got me - Jim Jones..
Parallels to the upcoming Jamestown (JPM) mass suicide?
Oh no. I just liked goofing off Mnuchin.
