I'm still waiting for actual capitalism in the US. I've never experienced the real thing. I live in a nation that leans heavily socialist, and it is more capitalist than the US. The US government is effectively a mafia state. Nothing will change this short of complete collapse. Maybe some states will become sanctuaries for liberty minded people, but they are all being invaded because the gangsters in DC are allowing it to happen.
If I did not have children, I would not care that much.
And we wonder why young people are flocking to socialism and communism. We keep telling them we are a free-market Capitalist society. They take it to heart and assume the regulatory-induced economic dysfunction is a feature of markets and look at capitalist-critical ideologies for a way out.
Unfortunately, the lies don't stop there. We lie to our kids about going to college. We lie to our kids about trade jobs. We lie about how hierarchies function in America. We've indoctrinated our kids into some wildly incorrect belief systems then are surprised when it results in even more dysfunction.
For example, I love Mike Rowe, but what happens when all of these blue collar workers who followed his advice discover just how cyclical these industries are. There is going to be a lot of shock when those great blue collar opportunities evaporate in a recession.
My son has working permits in both the electrical and plumbing trades (one of a very few). Once they round me and my wife up, lock us up, force me to eat bugs and worship Satan, I know he'll fare absolutely fine.
If you are a plumber in new construction or commercial, your prospects are about even with the mortgage broker. Some will try to transition to home services and most will fail. That's why I closed down my biz. Profits have been getting squeezed in that sector for a while now. Wait until the flood starts as new construction and commercial guys all pile in to chase that home and commercial services market.
You can hold the view that a plumber is generally more secure than a mortgage broker, but also tell the truth about how these industries change in downturns and how to position yourself to weather a downturn. No one is doing that. This will feed into the nihilism in young people. They've been sold the view that these are huge career opportunities where they can print money. It isn't reality.
Yay Capitalism” h/t Ben Hunt
1. AC/DC post Bonn is nothing more than a tribute band.
2. Bonn was the carnie your parents warned you about.
3. The lass in the green skirt behind him looks like she was plucked out of a tent revival!

I have no idea if Bon Scott actually played the bagpipe, but he is one of the all-time great rock party gods.
That is Bon on the bagpipes.

I hear ya but on the other hand which job is more secure? Plumber or mortgage broker?
