Great post about the real pain of inflation for regular people - The Forgotten Man (Schlaes). I think you should put together some playlists for us for each mood we are likely to have over the next year! Would be awesome so I can play when I’m not reading, etc. :)
My music collection is so big and eclectic that playlists are hard to do. Everything from 1920's blues and swing to classical to Billie Holiday to Dean Martin, Creedence, Depeche Mode and the Pixies, to black metal, Johnny Cash and Portishead :). I do have a free spotify account. Maybe do something with that sometime. Others have asked.
‘Just an absolute shriek of anger from the privileged, overeducated Brooklynites (in spirit if not in geography) who have put our intellectual culture in such a stranglehold.’ What a quote. I literally just got home from dinner with a couple who are exactly this - visiting from Brooklyn! Not to mislead - they are friends - but the atmosphere cooled when I expressed some agreement with points of view from ‘the other side’ - like it was a betrayal.
Commercial real estate also appears doomed when you look at demographic and especially technology trends. Giant glass skyscrapers are going to be white elephants, smaller facilities will likewise be vacant. I don't see any white pills in this market.
"...but I have no econ PhD." Stop bragging, it doesn't suit you...
"Less than 35% of the $800 billion in PPP loans actually went to workers..."
That's it in a nutshell, along with every other stimulus proffered by our masters. There's a good econ formula somebody with a PhD should devise: for every dollar offered as stimulus over the amount already existing in an economy, two dollars of graft/waste/unproductive economic activity will result with the majority of those dollars going to the palms closest to the politician.
You don't have to pay me and I don't want the title...

I think Lacy Hunt says government "stimulus" now has a negative net return.
I defer to Lacy and I'm generous to a fault, except with praise for psychopaths...
BTW, maybe consider offering some classical music pieces to accentuate some of your points?
1. 10 - 20 seconds of this: https://youtu.be/Fizh0M8TczA?t=313

Happy to offer more selections. :-)
I do what i do.
At least the commentary is interesting and informative.
There is some solace in that.
Yep, seems nothing is perfect.
