Eisenhower said it best, quoting from the piece: “ We should take nothing for granted only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”
The problem is that the citizenry is not knowledgeable or alert today, but glued to mobile devices and getting information in 280 character viral chunks, being easily manipulated by one of the two political cults that, like two sides of the same coin, hold a monopoly on power with the msm complicit in perpetuating the system. It is hard to be an optimist.
Another thoughtful writeup. I'm glad you back on twitter, but I expect they will try to silence you again. Keep it up!
Anyone who manages money is well advised to watch that Grant Williams interview with Anthony Deden. It is a phenomenal discussion of investment philosophy.
BTW it's articles like this that makes me think getting blocked on Twitter was probably the best thing that could have happened to all of us. Substack has been a great tool for the unleashing of all this great writing. Would love to hear you on Grant Williams. I'd signup and pay for it to listen to it for sure.
I have a new found respect for Dan Oliver after reading these excerpts. His insights are sobering. It's also the first time I've heard about Eisenhower drafting plans for false flag operations against Cuba. It's interesting, because as of late I had been wondering if his Farewell Address was indeed a warning for the citizens. Or could it have been propaganda to spur on the war machines of the super powers?
"Nowadays the only unforgivable sin in both the Republican and Democratic parties is to question endless, offensive, undeclared wars. " Sums up the purely evil rationale for the blatantly obvious full spectrum coup d'état launched against Trump from the moment it was clear he would win the nomination.
Many points in the discussion with Dan Oliver are reflected in the blog writing of James Kunstler and Dimitri Orlov, both of whom you are surely aware, but others reading this might not be.
The Gibbon quote really resonates with me, since I have long expected everything to collapse, and yet it all just keeps going somehow as if by magic. Had I understood that 20 years ago, I likely would have changed my investment mix accordingly. Oh well.
Please do a podcast with Grant, and thank you for this thought provoking piece.
So often Rudy substack remind us not to ask not for whom the bell tolls, but how we are all diminished by the loss. Where is our humanity? Hemingway and Havenstein would have get on like a house on fire. Funny both living through a golden age of fraud.
Thanks for this post Rudy. So much to digest. I too enjoy Grant’s work. This interview with Dan Oliver is jaw dropping. As the late great Tom Petty sang…. “IT’S WAKE UP TIME”
Please do a podcast interview with Grant Williams!
Best and most terrifying article I've read in some time, cheers.

Purely fantastic read, Rudy.
I concur with Rudy re: Grant's interview of Anthony Deden of Edelweiss Holdings, plus the visual production of that interview is absolutely beautiful!
