I was working for the Senator when Kerrey was working on the 9/11 report. He called often and I spoke to him often. I always got the sense (and still do) that he was a decent guy and something was troubling him greatly. I know most of us in NYC believed something was not right. My sense is he also believed that. He and the Senator would have long conversations (the Senator who almost took the democratic nomination from Gore and who sat on the intelligence committee for 18 years). In the 1980's under Regan, I felt like we were the Good Guys. It turns out I was wrong. Ever since the Iraq war, I feel like there are some really evil people in charge of this war machine. 9/11 is one of the things I just can't work out. As I get older I increasingly wonder if it was the final act of Iran Contra. These things are probably too big to be fully understood unless you spend your life linking the connections like Whitney Webb.
This short book is a fun read from a commercial airline pilot (died in mysterious circumstances). His most compelling contention was that the skill you need to hit one of those building with a commercial jet would be difficult enough for a career airline pilot and unthinkable for an amateur trained on Cessna's under immense pressure following a bout of hand to hand combat. Oh, the author was also friends with Barry Seal before it was safe to admit it.
