When this fantasy finance land blows up (yet again) the bailouts will be of a size beyond comprehension and the cost to the American people hard to even contemplate. It sickens me beyond belief.

I read Fallada's "Little Man, What Now" (I thought on your recommendation, but now I can't seem to find it via search tools... in any case), in addition to the economic parallels, the societal antinatalism present in the story rang very close to home.

I have that book (digital), but it looks like I never posted anything about it on Substack or on Twitter (that I can find). Odd. Maybe I meant to get to it and never did.

Ah, it was mentioned by Chris Bray. I was probably thinking of your recommendation of Before the Deluge.

Your best work yet. I’m a subscriber, but my dad isn’t. Is there anyway I can share this with him from beyond the paywall? I’m worried about my mom and him invested in basically the classic 60/40 and only owning 5% in gold. I think if he read this he might wake up.

reading you has been very very good for The Macallum

You mean The Macallan?

Rudy, I have decided that, if I survive the financial black hole directly ahead, I will send you a bonus above and beyond my subscription money IF...and I mean this ....ONLY IF...you continue my access should i go through a period, on the way to financial survival, of flatbrokeness

my long term plan is Antarctic subtropical shoreline currently under 1000 feet of ice

Abe, do you mind if I use your word, “flatbrokeness”? I have a feeling it’s going to be very useful in the future.

all yours but years from now when people are researching the origin and you have a chance to set the record straight, don't forget me. :-)

Yellen is truly despicable and her intellect is also very limited. Her responses in the hearing were pathetic. I also find her response to Greenspan in that 1996 (!!!) transcript ridiculous and revealing. Fortunately she will soon be out of power and back in academia, or maybe retired and spending time with her cats, either way I don't care!

Another great collection, combining notes from Fantasyland with many from the real world. I see more people crawling up out of the rabbit hole, dazed but at least somewhat functional

Ms. Shelton sounds like she might be a good replacement for J. Powell
